Back to water-related subject matter. Tortuga, or Turtle Island, was one of the first islands "discovered" by Columbus. The colonization of the island was an ongoing battle between the English, French, and Spanish. Soon, all colonies abandoned the island, deeming this small island not important enough for such troubles. It soon became inhabited by pirates and prostitutes (over 1,600 of them, brought by the governor himself to bring harmony/control the pirates) until 1684 when the Treaty of Ratisbon was passed, banning piracy. And it was to the gallows with the pirates!
The type reads "I will wait for you there creeping silently" (Beach House). It is from the point of view of people that may have been left behind in a foreign land when others abandoned it.
